Can You Keep Your Existing Access Cards and Fobs?
Modernising your access control does not always mean immediately replacing every existing card or fob.
Verkada supports many commonly used low-frequency and high-frequency card formats. This may allow an organisation to retain compatible credentials while moving the management of its doors and users to Verkada Command. patibility must be checked before installation, particularly where older card technology is being used.
Verkada Cards and Encrypted Credentials
Verkada supplies proximity cards and encrypted access cards for organisations that prefer physical credentials.

Mobile NFC Credentials
Mobile NFC allows an authorised user to tap a compatible smartphone or Apple Watch against the reader in much the same way as a physical access card.
Verkada supports mobile credentials through Apple Wallet and compatible Android devices. Administrators can issue, manage and remove these credentials through the Verkada platform. s may suit offices and corporate premises where employees already use mobile devices throughout their working day.
Bluetooth Access with Verkada Pass
The Verkada Pass app allows authorised users to unlock doors using Bluetooth.
Depending on how the system is configured, this can include tapping within the app or using Intent Unlock for a more seamless entry experience. The app can also support remote unlocking for users with the necessary permissions. etooth access can reduce reliance on physical cards, although it will not be right for every employee or environment.
PIN and Two-Factor Entry
The Verkada AD64 reader includes a keypad and supports PIN entry.
A PIN can be used on its own or alongside another credential, such as a card. Requiring both creates two-factor access, which may be appropriate for:

- Laboratories
- Medication storage
- High-value equipment areas
- Other sensitive parts of a building

It can also accept cards, Bluetooth, mobile NFC and PIN credentials. This means facial authentication can be used where appropriate without becoming the only available way to unlock the door. ial authentication requires careful consideration of privacy, security and data protection requirements before it is introduced.
Number Plate Recognition
Verkada can combine access control with compatible video security cameras to use an authorised vehicle’s number plate as an access credential.
This may be useful for:
- Staff car parks
- Gated business premises
- Distribution centres

- Multi-tenant buildings
- Controlled vehicle entrances
